Zonovo Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 23, 2026
Zonovo ("the app") is a fitness and social accountability app. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and the control you have over it.
Data we collect
- Account data — your email address, display name, username, and profile settings, stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) so your account works across devices.
- Health data — with your explicit permission, the app reads workout, heart-rate, sleep, and activity data from Apple Health to compute recovery and strain scores. Granting Health access is optional; the app works without it. Raw Apple Health samples stay on your device — only derived daily summary metrics (e.g. distance, strain score, readiness score) are shared with your squad if you join one.
- Fitbit data (optional) — if you choose to connect Fitbit, you sign in to your Google account and grant read-only access to your activity, heart, and sleep data through the Google Health API. The app reads your daily steps, distance, active calories, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, heart rate, and sleep. Your daily summary values are stored with your account in Google Firebase so your stats stay in sync, and your heart-rate and sleep readings are written into Apple Health on your device so recovery and strain can be calculated. The Fitbit sign-in token is stored only on your device. You can disconnect Fitbit at any time in Settings, which removes the token from your device.
- Squad activity — if you join a squad, your daily summary stats, presence, messages, and challenge results are visible to your squadmates. Planned-session accountability alerts (e.g. a skipped session) are shared with your squad; this is the core purpose of the app.
- Push tokens — a device token used to deliver notifications, stored with your account.
- AI coach messages — questions you send to the AI coach, along with your daily summary metrics, are processed by our AI providers (Groq, Inc. and NVIDIA Corporation) to generate responses. See "AI coach and third-party AI processing" below for the full list of what is sent.
AI coach and third-party AI processing
Zonovo's AI coach is powered by Groq, Inc. and NVIDIA Corporation (NVIDIA NIM), third-party AI service providers located in the United States. A request goes to Groq first; if Groq is unavailable or rate-limited, the same request is sent to NVIDIA instead, so the coach keeps working. The AI features are strictly opt-in: the app shows you an in-app consent screen that lists exactly what will be sent and who receives it, and no data is transmitted to either provider unless you explicitly agree. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app under Settings → AI Coach data sharing, after which no further data is sent.
What is sent to Groq, Inc. or NVIDIA Corporation when you use the AI coach:
- Recovery and heart metrics — readiness score, heart-rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate
- Sleep metrics — duration, sleep stages, and sleep debt
- Training data — strain, recent workouts, and your training plan
- Profile details you entered — age, sex, weight, and training goals
- The text of the messages you type to the coach
- Squad chat messages — only when the coach replies in a squad group chat
- Photographs of blood-test results — only if you choose to use the optional blood-test reader
How it is collected: these values are derived on your device from Apple Health (or Fitbit, if you connect it) and from information you entered in the app. They are transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection at the moment you send a message to the coach.
How it is used: solely to generate the coaching response shown back to you. This data is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not used to train AI models. Groq, Inc. and NVIDIA Corporation process the data as our service providers under their own privacy commitments, which provide protections equivalent to those described in this policy. Groq's privacy policy is available at groq.com/privacy-policy, and NVIDIA's at nvidia.com/privacy-policy.
If you decline AI data sharing, every other part of Zonovo — recovery, sleep, strain, workouts and squads — continues to work normally.
